Welcome to The Royal Star & Garter care home in Solihull, winner of the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards in the larger care home categoryOpened in August 2008, the new state-of-the-art Royal Star & Garter Home - Solihull is the first of the Charity's new care developments. The new home provides long and short break care for 60 mainly older people which includes a dedicated dementia care wing providing 15 rooms for residents who require this specialist care. The Charity was delighted when the new home won first place in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards in the larger care home category which highlights what a wonderful place the Solihull Home is to live.

As well as 60 spacious, en suite single rooms, superbly decorated, and furnished to a high standard, facilities include an elegant and relaxed dining room, a Cafe & Bar, variety of lounges, library and shared computer area, a Hairdressing salon, activities and therapy rooms, gardens and a roof terrace. All residents can join in an extensive range of activities, outings and events. Getting out and about in safety and comfort is easy in a new specially adapted coach.

The Solihull Home is also equipped with a sophisticated and discreet nurse call system in all areas, individually programmed under floor heating, and an in-house laundry.

In the Roundel Wing staff are committed to providing a full and meaningful life for residents with dementia and always remember that they are individuals and this is their home.  The philosophy is to treat each person with respect and respond to their unique needs and preferences.

The ground floor dementia wing is a safe and homely environment with 15 rooms for residents who require this specialist care. Based on expert research and guidance, the building interior and garden designs promote choice, safety and peace of mind.

The Roundel Wing has its own dining room and adaptable approach to mealtimes, which takes account of the need for flexibility and choice. The menu is varied and nutritious and tasty snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day.

The Roundel Wing is designed to help people to feel confident, relaxed and independent. All rooms have the technology to support independence and choice. Everyone can enjoy a dedicated and safe sensory garden.

Solihull town centre is within 1 mile of the home with easy access to an Arts Complex, banks, shopping, library, Shop-mobility, cafes and restaurants, cinema, theatre and parks. Solihull hospital is nearby which provides a range of health services. The nearest British Rail train station is Solihull which is served by London Midland Trains and Birmingham International train station has direct links to London Euston and other major cities. From Solihull centre you can get the No.671 bus to Monkspath Hall Road. A large pay and display car park is located on Monkspath Hall Road, a short walk from the home.
