Thamesfield Nursing Home is situated in Henley on the river. The nursing home is one part of a large house. The remainder of the house and outlying buildings are warden-assisted flats with support.The spacious and elegant main house with its secluded riverside grounds ensure an environment that is both peaceful and relaxed. This environment is complemented by the generous amenities afforded by Thamesfield.
The Home:
The house is well decorated and furnished. There are large communal rooms and outside gardens, which are shared with the flats. The nursing home has 12 en-suite large bedrooms all with a view of the river. All rooms are equipped with direct dial telephone, colour television, connection for Sky Digital television (Decoder can be arranged). Rooms also feature rapid response Nurse call system and smoke detectors.
The gardens are extensive and well maintained. There is seating around the garden as well as by the river. The riverside surroundings at Thamesfield lend the gardens and walks lasting beauty and interest, the wildlife and river traffic constantly changing with the turn of the seasons.There are plenty of parking spaces available. There is a grand dining room that is also used for concerts, shows etc. The lounge has a bar area and the bar is open prior to lunch.
The Cuisine
All meals are prepared by our own chefs from fresh local produce, and can be taken in the rooms or in the Orangery. Special diets are arranged and supervised by the Matron.
Activities
Apart from the friendly atmosphere - one of the hallmarks of Thamesfield - there is a full programme of activities, organised social events, and visits for residents to choose from, when they feel so inclined. Residents can entertain their own guests and parties, picnics, and buffets can be catered for. The grounds of Thamesfield are loaned out for local events, and there is a real interaction between Thamesfield and the local towns. A twice weekly shopping service, and regular visits from the mobile library, complete the picture of this congenial and lively community.
The Cost
The current fees are £1250 - £1400 per week.[As at 18th September 2006] Additional charges are made for hairdressing, physiotherapy, chiropody, papers and toiletries.
