Lady Sarah Cohen House is a modern, purpose built hotel style care home, for older Jewish people. The home opened in October 1997 and is operated by Jewish Care to provide nursing care for a maximum of forty older people.

The Location Lady Sarah Cohen House is situated at the end of a private road (Asher Loftus Way) which leads away from the busy Colney Hatch Lane. It is a short distance from the North Circular Road. It is well served by a variety of shops, restaurants and other community services located along Friern Barnet Road.

The Home

The home is a large four storey, detached building. On the ground floor is located the kitchen, laundry, coffee shop and synagogue. The hydrotherapy pool, reception area, clerical and administrative offices are also on this floor. The second floor of Lady Sarah Cohen House is registered to provide nursing care for a maximum of forty older people.

The aims of the home are to create a homely, relaxed environment with emphasis on treating service users with dignity and respect and enabling them to lead a full and active life.

The Activities

We have a comprehensive programme of daily activities organised by our activities organiser, which are carefully tailored to suit the needs of the client group. We encourage residents to continue to pursue their own hobbies and interests where possible, as well as providing various other forms of entertainment both inside and outside the Homes. Organised outings are arranged for residents who are welcome to participate in planning and running activities.

Visitors as well as residents are particularly welcome to join in the celebration of Sabbath and the Jewish Festivals. Seder services are particularly popular and traditional food and sweet meats are served on festival days.
