Care philosophy
Belhaven’s care home’s philosophy is that each individual is unique with his/her own special needs and has a right to choice, dignity, independence and the highest quality of life possible. Each resident/client is given assurance that all activities will be directed towards achieving this aim using the most up-to-date methods of care and that all staff connected with that services will be expected to adopt this philosophy.
At Belhaven we promote an individualized service for all our residents. To enable us to do this effectively, we have care teams and named workers for each of the residents. The care teams comprise of qualified nurses, senior carers and cares who are responsible for assessing planning, implementing and evaluating all the needs of the residents. This is done in conjunction with the residents, their family and the multi disciplinary team (e.g. social worker, GP and Community Nurse).
Our Services
To fully meet the needs of the residents we work very closely with the other member sof the multi-disciplinary team – GP’s, Dentists, Dieticians, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists to mention a few. A hairdresser visits the home every week and also individual appointments can be made out with service.
The Activities
We have an activities manager who develops, implements and monitors the programme of activities to ensure they are both interesting and stimulating and fulfil all the residents social needs. A varied and interesting programme of events and activities is provided, either in a group setting or on an individual basis, including outings to places of interest.
All residents are encouraged and supported to continue their spiritual needs. The local Churches visit the home regularly and hold service in the home once a month. Belhaven operates a policy of open visiting and relatives are encouraged to join their relatives for afternoon tea or meals if they desire.
